It can be frustrating when you feel like you have been trying to lose weight without success. However, our success is closer than we think. One small change may be what brings it all together. The key is to do the small things well.
It’s no secret that I love my husband. He inspires me and motivates me to be a better person. He does the small things well. He does the right thing even when no one is watching and even when it may cost him more time or effort. He takes out the trash and always warms up before lifting – two things I hate to do. Because he is willing to take pride in the details of his life, he reaps the rewards when it comes to athletic, personal, and professional accomplishments. He is good at everything, and I think it is because he is patient enough to do the small things completely and correctly.
So, whatever your resolutions are this year – to lose weight, to become a musician, to start your own business– start by doing the small things. Start with a meal plan and stick to it for one day. It gives you the momentum you need to form a real habit. Start by learning a basic song with only three chords. Start by filling out the paperwork for a business license. Whatever it is, just start. You can figure it out as you go. Just do the first small thing to get on the path to success and then… just do the next small thing.
What you seek is also seeking you. ~Rumi
